Terms of Use
Last updated: 17-08-2026
These Terms govern your use of the German learning app published at PLACEHOLDER: example.com. Please read them before you create an account or buy a course. They form a binding agreement between you and the operator named below.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account or using the app you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The app is operated by PLACEHOLDER: operating entity legal name, registered at PLACEHOLDER: registered address (company number PLACEHOLDER: company registration number), referred to below as "we" or "us".
We may revise these Terms. Where a change materially affects your rights we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect, by a notice in the app or an email to the address on your account. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
2. What the app does
The app teaches German to Sinhala-speaking and English-speaking learners through short daily lessons, spaced review, a grammar reference, and listening practice. Courses are organised as journeys between CEFR levels; each journey is a 30-day course of six modules.
The app is a learning tool. It is not an examination body, it does not issue accredited qualifications, and it makes no promise that you will reach a particular CEFR level or pass any test. Your progress depends on your own practice.
We may add, change or withdraw features. Where a change removes something you have paid for, section 5 applies.
3. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to hold your own account. Children below that age may use the app only through a children's profile set up and supervised by a parent or guardian, which is subject to section 9.
Give accurate information when you register and keep it current. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access to it.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, that is used to abuse the service or other learners, or where we are required to do so by law. Where we can, we will tell you why.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- share your account with other people, or resell access to a course you have bought
- copy, republish or redistribute the lesson content, the grammar books, or the audio, beyond your own personal study
- scrape or bulk-download content, or use automated means to access the app, without our written permission
- try to reach parts of the app you have not paid for, or interfere with the access controls
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, its servers or another learner's account
- upload malicious code, or use the app to harass anyone
- use the app for anything unlawful in your country or ours
5. Courses, prices and payment
The first module of every course is free. Beyond that, each course is sold separately and buying one unlocks that course's lessons, its grammar book and its listening material. Buying one course does not unlock another.
Prices are shown before you pay, in Sri Lankan rupees for payers billed in Sri Lanka and in US dollars otherwise. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. Card payments are handled by PayHere; we do not receive or store your card number.
Access begins as soon as your payment is confirmed. PLACEHOLDER FOR LEGAL: state the statutory right of withdrawal that applies to a digital course in the EU and UK, whether the learner is asked to waive it in exchange for immediate access, and the refund policy that follows from that.
If we withdraw a course you have bought while your access is still current, we will contact you about a refund or a replacement.
6. The AI conversation partner
The app can hold a spoken or typed conversation with you in German using a third-party AI model. This feature is optional and it only works if you supply your own API key for a provider you have your own account with.
Your key is stored in your own browser and is never saved to your learner profile, our logs, or our database. When you use the feature, the app forwards your key and your message to your chosen provider for that single request. Your use of that provider is governed by your agreement with them, including what they do with the text you send.
AI output can be wrong. Treat corrections and explanations from the AI partner as practice, not as authority; the grammar books and lesson content are the reference. Children's profiles have no access to this feature.
7. Our content and your licence
The lessons, dialogues, grammar books, audio, artwork, the app itself and its name are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by copyright and trade mark law.
For as long as your access lasts, you have a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the content for your own study. Nothing more is granted.
8. What you write and record
You keep ownership of what you write or record in the app, including your speaking attempts, your saved words and any correction you suggest. Recordings of your own speech are held in memory for playback and are not uploaded or stored by us.
If you send us a suggested correction to lesson content, you give us permission to use it, adapt it and publish it as part of the content, without payment and without attribution.
9. Children's profiles
The app has a separate children's track with its own content, its own age bands and stricter rules: no AI conversation, no advertising, and no storage beyond what is strictly necessary to run the app.
A children's profile must be set up by a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on the child's behalf and remains responsible for the account. PLACEHOLDER FOR LEGAL AND THE DPO: the lawful basis for a child's profile, the guardian consent mechanism, and the retention of a guardian's email address are all pending review.
10. Availability and no warranty
We work to keep the app available but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Lessons, translations, audio and grammar explanations are provided as they are; we correct mistakes when we find them but we do not warrant that the content is free of them.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Limitation of liability
PLACEHOLDER FOR LEGAL: the liability cap and the excluded heads of loss must be set by Legal for each market the app is sold in, and must respect the mandatory consumer protections of the buyer's country. Do not publish a figure that has not been reviewed.
12. Ending your access
You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account; see the Privacy Policy for what that removes and what we have to keep.
Sections that are meant to outlast the agreement, such as those about our content and about liability, continue to apply after your access ends.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by PLACEHOLDER: governing law and jurisdiction. If something is wrong, please write to PLACEHOLDER: legal@example.com first: most problems are quicker to fix that way than through a court.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or of the right to bring proceedings there.
